A heating system consists of a number of components not just the boiler. Pumps, actuator valves, blockages in pipe work can all be causes of breakdowns.
Some of these components will require replacement whilst others can be repaired.
Boiler parts are normally manufactured up to 10 years after a particular model of boiler is discontinued. Sometimes it is not possible to repair or replace parts on older models & it may be more cost effective to consider replacement of the boiler with a new, far more efficient, condensing appliance.
Blockages that cause cold spots in radiators can be eliminated with chemicals & the use of a flushing machine.
